We attended The Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo. It was amazing. This too is a professional rodeo. It is located in Abilene Kanas. It is about 30 minutes from Fort Riley. We loved this one. There was all kinds of vendors from farm equipment to wood carvers. So many talented people. We also saw the 4h animals. All were so pretty and well kept. They have had the best set up for seating as well. The only recommendation I would make is do something else with the stupid Dodge banner. Those who were sitting at the top had that in the way of viewing.
It is cheaper to get your tickets in advance. You can get them from Orscheln Farm and Home store on Washington St in Junction City. They do not do a military night or special needs night. Which is fine. They do a beautiful tribute to our military. They have great entertainment.Lauren Heaton is Miss Rodeo America was there. The announcer for the night was Mike Mathis. He rode around the arena on his horse. The rodeo clown was Matt Merritt. He was hysterical. I have never laughed so hard. The bull fighter was Ethan McDonald and Dustin Brewer. The rest of the rodeo’s should take note of their fantastic website. I was able to see who would be there and what to expect. Made it easy on this mom.
We made our way to our seats. The kids were so well behaved. Nathan asked a few times when he got to meet Miss Rodeo America. Told him maybe after the events. It was a hot night but well worth it. We took tons of photos and what bits we could get for video. It was a bit of a challenge due to the dumb dodge banners and the way they were hung. Pretty sure some Army Fuzzy hung them. We got some great shots. Make sure you get there early to get prime seats. We like going the last nights as that is award night and everyone is extra fired up.
Here are the videos from the night.
