So we have survived our first week of Basic Training Combat. Him getting screamed at and us missing him. Crazy! I have been able to talk to Paul from Sunday- Thursday. I knew he was doing OK. He was beyond exhausted. He did have to go and get some iv fluids for dehydration. We figured out his metabolism is off the chart but nothing we can’t fix. Nothing that is going to cause him to stop training.
He really is enjoying the guys he is bunking with. There are four in his cubicle, including him. He said they are hysterical. He said the meals are OK but he is missing his bed. I guess he is walled in and feels a bit claustrophobic. He said for the most part the drill Sargent’s aren’t to bad. There is one that no one can stand but I guess he stays at reception or so they think
The kids and I are managing. We have been doing their summer school things and they have been writing daddy each day. So that makes me happy. We have been spending time each night as a family reading bed time stories. I should say Blake reading the bedtime stories and it is so sweet to listen to him read. They haven’t really asked about daddy and just going with the flow. I think we did a great job preparing them. We also made a count down for when we get to go see daddy. I think it helps. They also have their Build A Bears that have daddies voice with message.
I have had a few emails asking how I am holding up. They remember my melt down in august last year. Thank you ladies, I am doing ok. The first few nights were hard. I was up every forty five minutes. I am now able to do a few hour stretch before some kid comes in needing water or whatever. Then we are back out until 630 or 700. Last night was a melt down for me. I was just missing him. I had been putting clothes away and came across his. I balled. The bed is lonely and I cried some more. All in all I am OK. I think we all need those cries once in awhile. They are a good cleaning for our souls.
This week the daycare kids come back for two weeks and we will be starting the YMCA. I am so glad for that. I can’t wait. I am going to do the spin class, water aerobics, and weight rooms. I have signed up with a trainer and nutritionist as well. Changes are going to happen this time.
I hope you all are having a fantstic Sunday.
