We live in Wiesbaden. It is about a 20 minute drive to Rüdesheim. It is a cute little tourist town. At the traffic light by the ferry and the bahnhof it will take you on a stretch of road where you are surrounded by castles. It doesn’t matter where you look they are there. Along with the Loreley. We plan to stop to see her once it warms up some. It is a pretty drive and can be a bit scary at times if you own a bigger suv like us. We have a pilot. The views are breath taking in the spring and summer. If we have to get out of the house to just go and do something. This is always first on our list.
We enjoyed driving the rhine and stopping for lunch in Koblenz. The kids were talking about if they had knights and what they thought the rulers were like. I loved it. It got us out and about. Along with my kids using their imagination. Love it! The top three are at marksburg castle. It was really pretty.
I say even if you are not close to the Rhine go visit. There are plenty of little gasthaus and hotesl around. The Gasthaus are my favorite becasue they generally have a resturant and the food is always good. We have never gone wrong there. It is really pretty in the spring and summer. Worth the visit. Alot of the little towns are super cute. You can find my post on them under the tag rhine river.
