First off anyone who knows me knows that I am proud to live in this country. I am known to flick my child if he doesn’t stand and have hand over heart during anthem. Lets not forget taking a hat off. I have military family. My moms father served in Vietnam and Korea. My step dad was enlisted. My paternal grandfather served in Korea. My cousins husband Derek did an obscene amount of time in Iraq and Afghanistan. So thank you for protecting us and sacrificing your safety. I can say my kids didn’t understand why they had school. CT has the day off to honor those who have fought for our freedoms.
I am one Proud momma. My boys if they stick to behavior program at school and get the to pick a treat out of treat boxes on Friday. They chose to take what was in their treat boxes, put the prizes inside for Operation Christmas Children. I know how much they look forward to this each week. We have been talking with the boys how lucky they are. I showed them children who basically have their clothes on their back and that it. I was raised to help those who are less blessed than you. I remember Washington DC and our first act of kindness. I want my boys to have that same compassion. I can say they couldn’t believe there were kids out there who didn’t have wii let alone a TV. We dropped our boxes of love off yesterday. Our local Chic Fil A was a drop point. I am kicking myself because we didnt take a picture. They were so proud.
