Thirty days since we left our home. We left our comforts of people understanding us when we speak. We have left our comforts of foods we know and schools we know. We have left our family. We took this journey with eyes wide open. I have taken the last thirty days and soaked every second in.
I have made a few great friends here and they know who they are. I have ached for my friends back home. Especially since a few have had to bury loved ones. I couldn’t be there to hold their hands, wiped there tears and hugged them. Here I am loving the people we have met. Extended family. I have been able to laugh. Get out and enjoy time with new friends.
We gained a son…I say this jokingly. He is a single soldier and loves our kids. He is just a good kid.
We have seen some of the most beautiful buildings and Churches that you have ever seen. Mainzer Dom one of the most breath taking churches you will find. We also found this gem. That makes you wonder what it looked like when it was whole.
I have watched my boys grow and try things that they weren’t so sure of. Blake’s enjoying school and learning two languages. He loves his host nation class. His teacher is a dream. I wasn’t so sure at first but came to learn she was just having a bad day. She is all for fighting for Blake. Nate he is getting there. He loves German class. He is adjusting well.
We are just thankful for the opportunity that the Army has provided us. What a great first duty station. The adventures we have planned over the next few months are just as exciting as the move.
