SO all of you know that Nathan has a real issue with speech and some of that includes processing what he hears. So you may say one thing but it sounds totally different to him. So with the next example don’t take offense it is what it sounded like to him.
Paul is sitting on the couch playing card game on the computer. We had gotten a review disc in and I let him use it. So the game comes on and says “Lets get ready to Play Texas Hold ’em”
Nate is the parrot of the family and says “lets get ready to play texic homo.” Took a few trys to figure out what he was saying. Paul wasn’t paying attention as he was sitting at the dining room table. I about wet my pants in laughter once I realized what he was trying to repeat. As I was yelling at him to find out who taught him that. Finally he said daddy’s game. Told him no more repeating.
Blake is becoming more and more aware of People’s skin differences. We tell him that god made us all different and special. That is enough. SO he has gotten to where he is associating people of importance of different colors ie Barack Obama and Martin Luther king. I should say we had this conversation in Bubba Gumps Resturant as I am trying to quite him.
Blake “Daddy your brown”
Paul”what are you talking about”
Blake “your skin its brown like Obama’s. He’s not black. Black is dark like MLK JR.”
Me cracking up because he is very right on his tones but doesn’t get that Paul is more olive toned. He bust out with this and it has nothing to do with the conversation. Paul asks him what color I was. He said I was peach colored. I love that he is able to associate things and think about them. What I loved even more was his next statement ” God made them those colors so they could show the world how important they are” Our schools are doing a unit on Influential African Americans. I believe is the unit title. For the month of Feb. We took him to the book fair. He bought a book on MLK JR and Meet the Obama’s. It was an innocent conversation with him but it also let me know that he is not being influenced by all the negative on tv. I just loved his comparisons.
Yesterday we did the trip to the zoo and were able to see some more animals out that hadn’t been out. the Lemurs and the meerkats. Can I tell you those lemurs have wicked long tails. The kids also fed the Giraffes and Birds. They loved it. We just had a great technology low/free weekend. Today I can catch up since Paul is leaving to Columbia for the night to be sworn in.That is the plan.
Have a great monday everyone
