Each year I do a letter for my children for Christmas. I then tuck it in their baby books. I just do a recap of the year for them. It is a way for us to remember.
so here is this years letter. It is just another tradition for us
Dear Sweet Boys:
This year has been full of highs and lows for us. Through it all you were troopers.
We added services to your care plan and made more demands of you. You went through 5 sitters until mommy said enough was enough and left her job. Mommy and daddy decided that it wasn’t fair to you to get used to one person and then they leave. So we enjoyed more of each other.
We also added a new doctor into the mix at the beginning of the year. Best thing we could have done for you. She was willing to work with us on finding medications that really work for you. You loved Dr. Briggs.
Along with all the medical and pysh needs we added in behavior management. You loved Tricia. Were really sad to leave her care. When we moved.
This year was our year of change. Daddy took some trips with just Blake. Blake loved it. Mommy got to do special trips with Nate. Next year we will change it up. You boys love your one on one time. Such a special treat for you boys.
In July Daddy got a new job and we decided to move to South Carolina. You thought it was the coolest thing to live with Grandma for a month or so. You thought it was even cooler to drive the moving truck with daddy. You got to see the east coast in one shot. you have wowed us with your resilience in this change. You have pretty much held it together. You two are Awesome. We are blessed to be your parents.
You have loved being down here. You keep asking for snow. We have to tell you next year we will go home for Christmas. You love chic fil a, sonic and the waffle house. You also loved the buccaneer and keep asking when you can go back. You have been on the water taxi, gone to charlestowne landing, the zoo and more.
You are making friends and life long memories here. You are leaving snapshots of happiness in mommy and daddy’s memories. I think back how far you guys have come over the last year and I am amazed. I remember getting your diagnosis and the one doctor saying don’t let the autism define them. You are not defined by your disability. Your willingness to learn and correct errors is never ending. Your wanting to make sure mommy is proud and daddy too never stops. We are always so proud of you sweet boys.
Blake your interest this year have been sports, music all music, wanting to learn guitar and I will find a way to make that happen. You love movies and games. You are so much better at wii than mommy. You have started the first grade and are upset when you have a day off. Your friends are Billy and James. We had a doctors appointment for you. You are a moose. You are 45 inches tall and 60 pounds. You are still on your own growth curve. You are solid. You so want to play football. Summerville has produced many great athletes. So I guess we moved to the perfect place for that. You are way to independent. You are such a little man now. It makes me sad at times. You love to read and be artistic. You are a shining star.
Nathan you are the character of the family. You threaten to handcup us up. When you get angry. You are in k4 and love every minute of it. Your interest are movies and singing. You go to bed singing and wake up singing. You love Miley Cryus Party in the USA and the Glee sound track. You are always there with hug and kiss when one of us is sad. You are also the first to try and put us in our place. You have a friend Mason you talk of often. You are stubborn and hot headed like your momma. Not a great trait but it will pay off if you learn to control it. It is just a form of passion. You are a rock star little man. To think you have only been really talking a short while. You now could be a professional talker. Nate you are 37 inches tall and 50 pounds.
So my boys Another merry Christmas to you. Know that we are proud of all your accomplishments. We hope to continue another stellar year for growth.
