Today is the 234 year of independence for us. There is so much pride in our family for this country and our love of it. For all those that fought to make sure we had freedom and those who have been lost to fight for that freedom.
I heard a few times over the last few weeks that our freedom is free, that there is no cost for this freedom. That is where they are wrong. It comes with plenty of sacrifice. My grandfather sacrificed many moments with his family while fighting in Vietnam and Korea. My other grandfather fought in Korea. The wives and children who give up their spouse and parent. These men and woman who have lost their lives fighting for your freedom. So you see it is not free. It comes from those who volunteer to serve this country and ensure that we are still able to do without any trouble. That we don’t have to worry about religious divides or those who don’t like you can harm you.
It comes with a sacrafice of fathers missing the births of thier babies. A mom missing a childs graduation. So no your freedom is not free. Today is a day to celebrate that freedom. Give thanks to the men and woman who serve our great country.
Today my kids and I are going to Arthur Middleton’s house and property. We will hear the reading of the declaration of independence. we will also try going to Magnolia Plantation. Tonight we will go and watch fireworks. Hope for a phone call from our loved one.
I hope you all enjoy your holiday.
