I can’t believe you are 12 already. Time has gone way to fast little man. I remember laying in the hospital bed after having you. Your dad sleeping on the couch next to the bed and being in awe that we had created something so perfect. You are every bit of your dad. You look just like him as a kid. You have his sense of humor and love of sports. You have gotten my compassion and kindness for others. Even though dad has those traits, I stake my claim in those.
I have watched you grow from this tiny little bundle into the little man you are today. You step up when mom needs your help without question. You take care of your brother and make sure that he is ok when he is having a melt down. You tell him it is ok and you understand. You let him know that you love him. Even when you have your fights you are always first to apologize. You teach him history facts and show him how to look up codes on the computer for your games.
You are an old soul wise beyond your years. You love all the daycare babies. You make sure that each kid has a toy and something to do. You make sure they include each other and use their manners. These traits my son will make you an amazing dad someday. When you got your diagnosis never once did I wonder if you would be able to over come what was thrown your way. You have amazed many.
You are an excellent student. You make sure that you do all your work with quality. You have big dreams of what you want to do and become. If you keep up working as hard as you do then I have no doubt that you will accomplish those goals. This past year I have watched you really come into your own. You have become a bit more out going. You are more willing to make eye contact and really talk to someone. You learned what it meant to be charitable when Dad and the rest deployed. You stepped right up and helped make care packages. You are not as much as a home body and not wanting to deal with the world around you.
You willingly talked with the players on the Harlem globetrotters which is amazing. When we took you last year you just handed them the ball. You are conquering your fears. You are growing leaps and bounds. You got to meet Larry the Cable guy and you thought that was amazing. You love his movie Health Inspector and Delta Farce. You got to play football with retired Kanas City Chief players. That is a day you did not stop smiling.
My boy your smile is infectious. Your heart is huge. You my boy are an amazing young man. I love you more than I can ever let you know. I love when you decide you are not to cool to snuggle with your mom. How you always find away to sneak in one last hug before bed. You have no idea just how proud of you I am. Time is surly killing mom with how fast it is going by. I stopped by your room on my way downstairs this morning to watch you sleep. Something I do often. You sleep just like you your daddy. I still see you as the baby who was snuggled all up with your daddy. Night time was his time to bond with you. Today when the tear dropped I saw a young man…oh how my heart sunk. In a few short years you will be leaving home and heading to collage.
We are so very proud of you. We love you so much. I hope this next year all your dreams come true.
