It was a bit stressful to get here. Paul left Sunday night to drive on the bus. He arrived and did just fine. Monday I spent the day doing extra packing and then getting us to the airport not a problem. We get on the first plane. My heart is racing since we are on a two seat by two seat puddle jumper. Note to self we will not fly back to south Carolina when we return. We will drive back. We felt every bump there was to feel. I was nauseated. We find someone to help us through with our luggage through the airport in Washington. Here is where we have issue. I have to get on the tram by myself is six bags and two children….DISASTER.
We get on sixty seconds we are at our stop. I gather what I thought was everything. Only to find out I left my 300.00 coach purse on the tram that was now out of service. Thank god for being escorted. When I realized it, went straight to the desk. They had security bring it up but it almost didn’t make it in time. Kind of had a home alone moment. AHHHH! Finally we are settled on the plane.
I was able to spend the next 8.5 hours in the air catching up on movies I had wanted to see Eat, Pray, Love, Going the Distance and Charlie St. Cloud and A Christmas Story. We were so very proud of the boys they did fantastic on the planes. No sleep meds. They were champs. I had no anxiety meds and did well on the plane. Will never do without again though. We met the SGTs at the airport and they were fantastic. I was taken to a phone I could call home on and stop everyone worry. I was also able to get the kids food and drink. We finally made it to our destination Wednesday night, after being held over. No buses going to our destination.
Wednesday night we checked in and met our New friend Stacey. She and her family are fantastic. We also met a second family chirtmas day that we enjoyed as well. We went to the christmas market that night. Was fantastic had Gluhwine. For those who don’t know it is hot wine.
Thursday we walked downtown again and found a tiny bistro with the most amazing waffles ever! Nate had a chocolate waffle with powdered sugar. I had a banana and vanilla ice cream waffle with a bit of cinnamon and powdered sugar. Paul had some sort of pizza and wished he had done a waffle. Our first language barrier happened that day. Blake wanted pepperoni pizza. We said ok. Ordered and pepperoni here is not what it is in America. It is tiny whole green peppers. Blake looked at it and asked why his pizza had slugs on it. Cracked us up.
Friday we hung out at the hotel and played games. Saturday was spent with new friends. It was great. Christmas gets it own post! We are on the worlds slowest Internet. So I ask everyone to please tough it out with us.
Pictures will come as soon as I have a better internet connection.
